These Kazak women are currently employed. They are women who are otherwise without aqequate means of support. With AltaiCraft Company, they have an opporunity to provide for themselves and their families. Each is paid by the piece, which, if motivated, allows them to earn a good living.
Susan "Alex" Bourke, Pictured below, is a motivated individual who volunteers her time to better the lives of the Kazaks of western Mongolia. She has lived in Bayan Olgii since 2000. Alex is currently managing the project and works with the women daily.
The Mongolian Women’s Federation is a non profit organization seeking to support and connect the women of Mongolia. B.Sauletkhan, leader of the Bayan-Olgii chapter, had been a great help in getting the project going. Unfortunately, Sauletkhan passed away suddenly in June of 2006.
GEO Mongolia is a non-profit organization seeking to facilitate community development projects in western Mongolia. Jason and Glory Cancro are helping with training, product design, and with the technical aspects of the project. They are currently living in Seattle, WA, with their two boys.
